We came out on top against a strong physical Banagher side this morning on the Galway Offaly border.
The game got off to flying start with both side putting in hard tackles and battling for possession. It took us a good 15 minutes to get a good foothold in the game but once we did we played some great football.
The first goal came through some great battling in midfield by Stephen Nally who won the ball and gave it to Ian Keelan who finished expertly. Keelo doubled his tally right before half time, the goal came after Mark Hickey beat two players on the wing and put in a great ball into box and Keelo jumped the highest and powered a header home.
To Banaghers credit they never looked out of the game and in truth had the better second half. But we defended well and held out for the win against a very good side who started the day 1 point behind us in the league.
Our Clarkes Bar, Mullingar man of the match was Ian Keelan, but the midfield trio of Joe Doyle Craig Charles and Stephen Nally deserved a mention as to a man they battled tirelessly.
As always thank you everyone who came down to cheer us on!
