A tough loss for our men this evening in awful weather out in Gainstown.
The first half was a tight game with both teams having chances and neither really doing enough to break the deadlock. Our big chance came when Ryan Dempsey hit the crossbar from inside the box. Not long after Athletic were awarded a penalty late in the second half but it was saved by Christy Keena.
Athletic came out firing in the second half and played some excellent football which resulted in them going through to the next round.
Next up for our men is a long trip to Rosslare on Sunday in the FAI Junior Cup.
