A great win for the men in green today against a strong Mountmellick Team who were 3 from 3 in the league before today.
Mountmellick started the stronger of the two teams and played some good possession based football which resulted in a well deserved goal.
But the Celtic men put a massive effort in and looked deadly on the break and we had a few chances to equalise and only for the Mountmellick goalkeeper pulling off some brilliant one on one saves we could of scored more before our first goal.
Our breakthrough came when Mark Hickey squared the ball to Ian Keelan who cooly slotted home. We then took the lead when Ryan Dempsey latched onto a brilliant through ball by Ian Keelan and finished brilliantly.
Mountmellick never looked out of the game and played some brilliant football and got a equaliser not long after the start of the 2nd half.
We took the lead again when Ian Keelan slotted Ryan Dempsey through who finished excellently again. Mark Hickey scored the fourth not long after when he was slotted in by Keelo and hit the post and in.
After that Mountmellick dominated the ball but we looked great on the break and should have extended our lead but the opposing keeper pulled off some great saves to keep them in the game.
Mountmellick peppered our goal for long periods but our back four and goalkeeper held strong until the last kick of the game when Mountmellick got a late goal.
It was a excellent win for our men who worked their socks off. We couldve picked a man of the match from any of our from four and midfield with Darren Aughey, Stephen Nally, Mark Hickey, Ian Keelan and Ryan Dempsey all putting in excellent displays but the motm has to go to Keith Hope who was brilliant on and off the ball.
Thanks a million to everyone who came down to cheers us on!
