Brilliant character shown again today by the men in green and black who went 2-0 down in the first 10 minutes of the first half.
The comeback began on the 27th minute when Joe Doyle headed the ball down to Keith Hope who struck home through the goal keepers legs from close range. Ryan Dempsey added a second 2 minutes later after Fola played a great ball into the box which found its way to Demo who took a touch and finished excellently.
Birr Town still looked dangerous on the break and proved they were still a threat when they scored a excellent freekick to give them back the head.
It looked like Birr would take the lead into the break until a mix up at the back left Keith Hope through on goal who made it 3 – 3.
Mullingar Celtic played a more controlled game in the second half and carved some good chances before Ryan Dempsey was played in by Ian Keelan and put us 4 – 3 up. Keith Hope had a chance to put the result beyond doubt late on when Fola won a penalty after some great centre forward play but the Birr keeper made a good save.
As always thank you to everyone who came out to cheer us on!
Our Clarkes Bar man of the match was Ryan Dempsey who played a stormer on his birthday!
