The men from Mullingar came out on top in a brilliant game this afternoon on the astroturf in Gainstown.
Ballymahon started the brighter of the two teams and got the better of a tepid first half, they scored a good goal just before half time.
The management rangled the troops at half time and we came out a different side after the break. Keith Hope started to get on the ball and controlled the game, whilst the direct runs of Ian Keelan and Mark Hickey caused problems.
We equalised through Ian Keelan five minutes into the first half when he slotted home a great finish from a through ball by Ryan Dempsey. Not long after that Keelo gave us the lead with another great finish after a good ball over the top by Ciaran Shanley.
Keith Hope added the third not long after that with a great finish after some excellent pressure from our men led to a mistake by Ballymahon.
To Ballymahons credit they never looked out of the game and pulled a goal back when their goalkeeper went upfront and played a great ball which was put into the net by our own player. Ballymahon almost scored a equaliser from a corner in the last minute but Jamie Tarleton cleared at the back post.
This was a great win against a very good side. Thanks to everyone who came out and cheered us on!
Our Clarkes Bar man of the match was Ciaran Shanley who was brilliant at centre back, but it was excellent performance from 1 to 16!
