Today’s result.
Ballyboro 2-4 Mullingar Celtic.
A fantastic away performance today by our lads against a cm very strong Ballyboro team. We travelled with only 13 players due to injuries and lads away but from 1-13 the effort and determination that was put in was second to none.
Our first goal was cooly slotted home by Podge Mccomb after some great build up play from Celtic. Podge has really hit the ground running the last few games and is getting what he deserves for his efforts. Ballyboro, then equalised a few mins after and we went in half time at 1-1.
We had a great halftime chat and they really stamped there authority on the game in the second half. Ryan Dempsey was a thorn In the Ballyboro side and it was his mazy run beating 3 Ballyboro players and running in on goal that won us a penalty, he then dusted himself off and cooly slotted home.
2-1 became 3-1 a few mins after that as the hardworking Marc Eivers got the goal that his work deserved, slotting home with his weaker left foot, the finish was calm and collected. To Ballyboro’s credit they didn’t give up and a free just outside the box was slotted home with aplomb to make It 3-2.
At 3-2 Dylan Cannon (debuting in goals) pulled off a superb reflex save to keep Celtic in front. Then it was Gary Walsh’s turn to intervene with a savage defensive block to keep Ballyboro out. Celtic put the game to bed when Marc Eivers hit an up and under ball to Ross McGovern who shouldered home to give Celtic all 3 points.
Rory Daly who had to battle on with an injury got in on the defensive act with a decisive last ditch challenge.
All in all this Saturday team are slowly but surely finding there feet in the Saturday division after a series of strong performances not getting what them performances deserved. They got what they deserved today. 1-13 today was man of the match as each individual stepped up to the plate. A big 3 points for the Celtic men.
